1989 FSJ w/Magnum 5.9 drivetrain

Post by Papa George »

In its reincarnation, it has been to Donnelly Wash and did very well in 2 wheel and 4 wheel.

The donor RAM 1500 had a vacuum disconnect front axle and, of course, the FSJ does not. What saved me is the RAM User Manual instructions to shift Tcase.
Stop in Drive or Reverse, Keep your foot on the brake, turn engine off. At that point T case shifts easily. In the position desired, restart the engine and drive! Works great w/o leaving the car.

Really clean engine bay! Getting rid of the OEM air box sure opens things up.

That's awesome! Love those seats--they have headrests yet they're not obnoxious headrests, and they fit the look of the interior.

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.

Is that the factory Ram fuel injection or an Edelbrock ProFlow?

Definitely looks like a ProFlo. The factory intake for magnums was this tall long runner setup that made it look like a drum was sitting on top of the engine.

Ah yes, I remember now. Now I'm curious as to why they put a Pro-Flo on it when they could have Just put a Pro-Flow on the AMC engine or use the factory Mopar EFI on the Magnum.
