How thick are the rocker panels on a 90 ?

Post by candymancan »

I bought some sheet metal awhile ago and i was wondering how thick are the rockers on these Jeeps ? Im reading various sizes on searching.. 18 16 20ga.. lol but i have no idea.

I have some holes in my rockers.. was thinking of cutting sections out and tack welding the metal i have to kinda make it look nicer than a giant rusted hole lol. But i think the metal i have is 20/22. Not sure i gatta look

Not 16. Old cars are 19ish. 18 is a good substitute. If I had some 20, I would use that.

My '75 Cherokee had 18 gauge rockers. And surprisingly they were galvanized.

Best answer I have: not very thick.

The replacement outer rockers aren't too expensive--if you don't want to do the whole thing you can just cut out the section you need to replace. Or if you have dents and stuff anyway, and want to make sure the inside of the rocker gets sealed up, you could get the whole thing replaced. Your rig is black so short-term a black primer wouldn't look bad, if you're worried about paint.

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.
