These fitting are generally used on Sanden compressors with vertical #8 (discharge) and #10 (suction) ports.
Red cap fittings are #8 in 90 and 135 degrees female o ring with high side 134A service port (discharge).
Blue cap fitting is #10 135 degree female o ring with 134A low side service port (suction).
Ed, would you be able to build a set of stock AC hoses for a '79? My local AC shop butchered my last set.

Yes, but need to know exactly how your truck is equipped, such as type of compressor (i.e. sanden or york on 360 AMC engine), service valves,condenser (oem,aftermarket,o-ring,flare) will you install anew oem drier or relocated aftermarket drier,is the evap the 79 style with flare fittings and externally equalized expansion valve, R12 or 134A
The only way I could recreate a hose set is with detailed input from you or to have your truck here in my shop in central California,otherwise I may also create something that won't work either.
Now, the "Question" :
I just installed a 2018 GM L 83 and plan to use the stock compressor that came with it. First, what compressor is this? I find no mfg name on it? And - do you have an AC block that would attach to said compressor? Can you make one? I did not get the AC block with the engine.
Reading your post.. it seems I could have you make the lines?
Plan is to use my stock parts.. but want to move the dryer under hood.
I plan to mock up all the hose length and end fittings and have some made. Would ship that to you. Feasible ?

Just talked to Mark Hugerford at Vintage Air this morning about that very thing, he said the oem compressor (Denso 7SAS17F) is a ecm controlled variable displacement clutchless compressor and won't work with their system, also there is no aftermarket suction/discharge manifold made for that compressor, could modify the original hose by welding a male insert o-ring port.but??!!!

Yup - sort of true.. BUT, the hot rod guys feed 12v to the variable inputs and it works like a normal compressor ... Just turn it on and off.
I already changed the acc drive to add a PS pump... Swap time says it will work. They are the one of the few with LT conversion experience.
So, I need to scavenge a AC block for this comp and have it modified? If I do so, can you modify?
I am in the Detroit area.. lots of auto related stuff around here. Was trying to support a Jeep guy....

I stand corrected thought the compressor was clutchless so yes that part of the problem is solved and if you don’t care about the idle up then switch port is not an issue , so only remaining hassle is the suction/ discharge manifold.
I appreciate your support but I’m sure you can find someone close to you to weld aluminum fittings,
I think I have one of those compressors in my inventory ,I’ll take a look at it and see which oem manifold might be worth sacrificing .

Had a compressor in stock for the L83, should have looked at first before posting
Vintage Air doesn’t like oem compressors , I guess because of bad experiences with jacked up installs in the field
With the L83 at this time using stock compressor maybe the only way, will take a closer look at comp today and see if something off the shelf might work as a manifold
Spent a bit of time looking for a solution for the manifold and looks the safest thing to do is buy a new set of hoses and cut them up to fit what you have, could also scrounge a up a used set since all you really need is compressor fittings.
Might look at Hawks Motorsport in SC they have a manifold pad that might work ; it’s for a Lsx/ Ls3 but spacing between ports is right.

I am working on the a/c setup in my 78 chief with the ls swap 6.2 with stock a/c compressor.
Instead of using the block that bolts onto the compressor there are #8 / #10 conversion fittings made for this purpose. This is what I used Here is a link
