Does Anyone Use These Grilles?

Post by Kowpie »

I don't care for the look of this grille in my '78 Wagoneer. I might start looking for the earlier one. Does anyone use these?

Lots of people like the egg crate grill. I like the turn signals in the grill. The Razor grill is my favorite, but the egg crate is nice.

I too like the Egg Crate grill [AKA Boobie grill]. I like them because they are more rare. Ive never been able to get one.

So that is a Boobie grille! Hah! Well, I suppose I should readdress my priorities!

I will agree from my own perspective.. the Eggcrate or aka boobie grill and the cheese grater grills are the rarest at least for me. Ive seen many final editions, and many muscle grills and the egg crate grill.. Seen a few razors too, but never have i seen the boobie or cheese grater

The rhino grill gives you a nice spot to mount fog lights. Plus its steel.
About the egg crates; were the blinkers always clear? Bought an amber pair at the
last swap meet ( hopefully not THE last swap meet ), seller said they were from an Ambassador,
just wondered if they were the same. Rhinos and razors are my favorites.

You mean its aluminum. ? Is it ? Ive seen them in junkyards. They seem plastic in the center. Becauae the fibal edition and the muscle grill ib the center is platic. but i havent checked though for sure. There is one in the junkyard i wish i could get to sell.. but i noticed alot of the 70s-80s Jeeps have locks on the gas tanks and the grills..

Yes ive seen locks on the grills haha.. i guess stealing grills and gas was common in the 70-80s lol ?

Rhinos are steel. I think someone has reproduced the rhino in fiberglass.
My razor and cheesegrater are aluminum. The locks on the grills were
probably there to lock the hood shut. Battery theft was quite common.

egg crate blinkers where always clear

As for the lock on the grille/hood... yes, I installed one... parking for a few days in a remote area 20 miles from the nearest highway or telephone booth/ cell phone reception nowadays... not a good idea to find out that your battery is gone... I had a U bolt on the valance and a long cable fished to the driver's side fender...

Yes, the orange AMC car lens are the same fit. Almost all the cars had them some time through the 70s. Some had chrome rings, some not. Some even had chrome gun sights on them. The Jeep Commando even had the clear ones the last couple years in production. The electrical plug on light fixture was often different depending on the model.
