Welcome to the Group! It looks pretty clean and rust free. I like how they painted it.

Are you sure it's a 304? I think that would be odd. Are you familiar with AMC's and Jeeps? It's easy to tell if it is a 304/360 or 401

I know, right? I thought a 304 in 74 was wrong. Got on the ground and looked at the engine block marking, and it’s indeed a 304.

My Cherokee's PO removed the original roof rack and installed a rhino rack that attaches to the gutters. About half of the holes in the roof have been covered in what looks like clear flex-tape. I never thought of doing such a thing (my tendency would be to fill with a body plug and seal with silicone).

So, as an experiment I bought the best reviewed clear tape I could find on Amazon and used it to cover the rest of the holes in the roof. Will keep an eye on it over the winter. Hopefully it works.

Welcome to the madness. I looked at your blog thingy. Those SS rings lose tabs fairly easy. You made a good fix! The 304 was a fairly common engine in FSJs in 74. I have found a few at wrecking yards over the years. I have also found a couple 304 in 78 models. The Edelbrock SP2P 4bbl intake is a good add-on to wake them up. Is the EFI on the stock manifold? Good luck with your projects.

Thanks, my welds on those tabs weren't real pretty but at least it was a quick project (took longer to setup/tear down than to weld).

The PO actually put on an edelbrock manifold. The engine runs great.

I don't have huge plans right now, besides a whole pile of door/window seals and some tailgate work. Just wanting to drive and enjoy it, while shaking everything down. Wanting to get a couple gauges sorted out too.

That's interesting with the floor shifter, you can see it used to be column. I wonder if someone swapped some driveline stuff around at some point? Very pretty interior colors though.

Yeah, it’s got a Quick Silver B&M shifter, which I feel like is somewhat of an odd choice, but I think I like it.

Had a blast replacing window seals, weatherstrip and glass channel today on the driver's side.

Welcome, nice looking chero, I used the 5 min marine epoxy, non-sag using punched out plug from electrical service box, and a few quarters when I ran out of plugs, from the inside , after removing the headliner... then smooth out the outside.

Thanks for the tip. I’m going to want to get those roof holes addressed relatively soon, but am working door/window seals now.
