Rebuilding the 1980 360 out of my J10. This one didn't have a/c but I live in the South and have become spoiled by cool air in summer over the years and I WILL have A/C. I plan to use BJ's setup so I bought a stock aluminum compressor bracket and a large triangular steel bracket. The seller assured me were correct for my year and I'm fairly sure they are. For the life of me I can't find a parts diagram or photos of how the stock alternator mounts are configured with the compressor mount All I can find are images of modified setups. Any resource material, diagrams, pictures, or crayon drawings would be appreciated. My OCD won't let me finish putting this thing together until I've got this challenge worked out. Thanks
If you would like when I get home later today i can take some pictures of my brothers setup on his j10. I dont think he modified anything on it, im pretty sure he got it the brackets and everything out of the junkyard and put it on. if i remember correctly his hoses and lines arent hooked up but everything is all mounted in place. just let me know if there is any specific pictures i could provide that may help, his a a 1974 j10 and but i assume they are the same. http://theamcforum.com/forum/360-w-add- ... 94067.html is a link to pictures of ac brackets on a javelin. not sure if it applies or not.

There are two styles of air conditioning that could come on a 1980: factory air and "American Air' (dealer installed). The factory air for '76 up does have a big aluminum bracket and a triangular steel bracket. The parts book shows it, but it does not have a picture of it that includes the alternator mounting. I can take a picture of my '82 if it's the same. Dark now ... tomorrow.

Not strictly correct, since this shows the Motorcraft alternator which ended in '77. You should have the Delco used '78 on, where the bolt comes into the adjustment bracket from the front like in my pics above.
