Yea anything chrysler engine wise is crap.. the 4.0 when chrysler took over had cracked head. Cracked exhaust manifilds. My mom 4.0 had s broken valve spring at 65k miles. Grabted she now has 290k on it.candymancan wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 1:39 pmThats interesting i hear those 4.7s were BEEP engines.. cracked heads.. clogged oil valleys ect..MReese Wagoneer wrote:I drove my '99 WJ to an odometer of 315,000 figure the 8ish % wheel change for 150,000 a real life 327,000 it still ran 100%, the electric gremlins got to it

But now that i think of it.. anything made by chrysler gets cracked heads.. the 4.0 after 99 had cracked head issues. All the 5.2 and 5.9 liter magnums had cracked heads although there cracked heads usually never caused issues but still
candymancan wrote:The issue with the 4.7 was sludge , would block oil returns.candymancan wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 1:39 pmThats interesting i hear those 4.7s were BEEP engines.. cracked heads.. clogged oil valleys ect..MReese Wagoneer wrote:I drove my '99 WJ to an odometer of 315,000 figure the 8ish % wheel change for 150,000 a real life 327,000 it still ran 100%, the electric gremlins got to it

4.7 cracked heads and blocked oil valleys.. the 3.6 and 5.7 and 6.2 and 6.4 all have camshaft issues even to this day
I ran many different oils finding Amsoil did not sludge , I monitored build up in the oil cap . Valvoline was the worst I believe , and I used to use that most
And overheating they say but I ran mine pretty hot a few times. I friend went through a couple 4.7s but mine kept on going !!
