Has anybody taken down their interior roof light? The one that is more forward towards the front of the jeep roof.
I need to take mine apart and refurbish most of it, but don't want to crack the original lens and body parts. Can't get the lens out.
For those that know how to do this ... how does the main white lens remove from the chrome housing? I'm assuming the roof fastening screws will be found under that lens cover?
Thanks for your help.

You'll have to remove the lens. I use a lens from 69-81 GM cars in my 79 and it fits great. The lens has a front and rear clip that snaps into the base. It has to come off.

Yep, screws underneath that. BJs has the replacement lens as well as the whole units both in chrome and white if you do happen to break it.
Also, consider upgrading to an LED bulb. Makes a world of difference inside the Jeep:

The BJs lens is 80+. The 79 has a one year only lens.

Another reason I like to keep as much original as possible. Those re-pop parts usually suck anyway.
