Hello, in my '76 Cheif I have everything stock, as it came. Problems is, the Turbo 400 is burnt up. I have a '79 parts Chief with a good Turbo 400. Plan to swap then over soon. Only thing is, the the parts vehicle has a MM part time kit installed on it, with locking hubs. Do I need to swap the hubs over with the trans as well, or can I run it without them? Thanks in advance.

If you are only swapping the transmission, no. If you are swapping in the transmission and transfer case then yes, you will need the manual hubs too.
I think if you leave the OM hubs, you use the emergency drive switch in the dash to select 2wd-4wd. But on my parts truck, the PO rigged the TC where it was all the time 4wd, and you locked the hubs in when you want 4wd.
Is it a BW Quadratrac t-case? Have you tried driving the truck like that? I'd be interested because I thought the t-case would get smoked because it'd be trying to send power to the slipping wheels. Mind you, I've got very little experience with these things. I've had some good discussions with the people here is all and some experimenting ony own.

And, yeah, I've got a part time kit and locking hubs. I lock the hubs and then engage 4WD with the switch and it all locks in (and works bitchin' in the snow!).

Well, I haven't driven it at all yet, still working on it, slowly. I'm a full time college kid, with a full time job. I stay hooked up, unfortunately. Its a BW 1339 QuadraTrac TC. I will probably wind up swapping hubs too, that way when I want 4WD I just lock it in. And the rest of the time it is 2wd. . . And I have the low range option installed on mine too, so I am just about unstoppable in low range.
Sweet, I have pretty much the same set-up on mine. Part-time with the reduction gear. I'm excited for the yearly huge late-winter/early-spring snow here.
