dash mounted rear window switch

Post by berettajeep »

Are these switches available anywhere? It is for my '74 Cherokee.

(This one is not mine, just a photo of what it looks like online)

I opened mine up and a small piece inside was broken and then I cracked the housing.. :banghead: D'OH!

Here is the part number....987 949 Singer

BJ's sell this one

But I don't have rear defrost.

And to reference the first photo again...

Using the number 5465057 I found that this switch was used for 78-85 rear window defroster. Can this be used? Pictures show everything external is the same between that and mine.

Anyone ever have to replace one before? What did you use?

I used a non-locking, SPDT toggle switch with a center rest, I found mine at Mouser Electronics.com. It's not a factory look-a-like, but it does the trick.
