With the FSSR and 2.5" Springs, I need 4.5" on the front shaft. Its always cheaper to shorten a DS than lengthen. So, I'm going to use a CV from a automatic Qaudratrac CJ that is 8" longer than the Cherokke DS.

We set up the clutch and master cylinder today. Once the slave is in place we'll have a custom hose made and it'll be done  This week we are going to focus on the dash and steering column. The one pic shows the clutch peddle with the bracket that has the arm pivot--not much to see.

They're 33x10.5x15s. I like the tall skinny look--more utilitarian. I've got some more BJs stuff coming in for the gas tank etc and then pull the drive train to detail it.

I'm pretty sure those are the factory optional 5 slots, but Chevy offered the same wheel in a 15x8 while our Jeep wheels are 15x7.

Chevy style HEI (ECM controlled)
Dolphin "Shark" gauges in a fancy homemade oak bezel
3/4 resto, rotting faster than I've been fixing it.

Yep, Chevy 5 slot mags sold during the 70's. I really like the new 17" version ;)

We installed the BJs extended brake lines today. We'll pull the drive train out next week to detail the engine etc. Also, who here has installed the Howell EFI for the FSJ and do you like the performance?

I put one on a customer rebuilt CJ7 with the 258. It was fuel only, but really woke that little Jeep up. I was quite impressed at how much snappier it was over a weber carb.

BJs has one that is FSJ specific and was wondering how easy it was to install etc. I can invest $600 in an intake/carb, HEI or $1200 in the EFI. I want the EFI and the Howell is $600 less than the newer systems out there.

FYI, Affordable Fuel Injection has an even cheaper system that seems decent. It was the top one in my list until I ran out of money fixing stuff :) The mothership has some threads on it...haven't heard any complaints, just not as popular as the others.

I looked them up and they're within a few dollars of a Howell ($1145)

Howell's TBI kit is a great turnkey kit. They also offer a CARB legal kit if you need that sort of thing

I have run their regular TBI system for a few years and was very happy. I then hacked it and upgraded it a newer ECM and added timing control.

AFI offers a great kit and you can get timing control as an ADD-ON OPTION. It will cost more than their basic kit. But this option is also turn-key.

Looking awesome Rocky! On first glance I thought it was a picture of mine when we were doing the lift!! That green black combo is almost identical to mine. I need to repaint that hood and fender I got from you and we need to side by side them, it'd be awesome!

I'm still working on it. It's just that the R&D is taking a lot of time. We've worked through two slaves, two masters and several locations of the clutch master cylinder to get it right. Plus, little things like window alignment are taking time. However, it's get-n close to driving :)
