IFSJ is permanently down?

Post by Daktari »

Hi Guys, Tried to register on IFSJ for a month now, but I can't. All I get is this message:
"Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here".
Contacted the admin three times, but no answer, nothing. The site is still up and running or just wasting my time with them?
Thanks!

Why not post your issue here? Most folks that are on there are on here too. The software at ifsja is old, and it has had issues in the past.

Often admins will ban easily created addresses like gmail, to avoid spam etc. What domain are you trying to register under? Or maybe your login name or IP address has had issues at that site in the past. There's no law that says the site owner has to let you in.

Typically banning IPs is a bad idea, as people's IPs are very rarely static. You may be able to get somebody here that is also there to post asking to fix it over there.

Or, you can just post whatever your question is here.

I am not sure it's down or "dead" really.
There is a ton of great info on both of these sites.

 I am getting roughly 1000 views a day on my current thread on ifsja
So somebody is looking at it ??

I debated on where to post my current build and discussion... Seemed to get more traffic over there,

I think forum based discussions are becoming a victim of the Facebook groups.

I do check in here regularly as well.
I am interested in all things full size. Sometimes I can help or answer, others no.

The upgrade broke my login. Not going to re-register. Meh. One less time-sink for me.

IFSJ is permanently down?

Post by thej10guy »

I heard about the owner/creator switch and went over to check it out. I made an account and build thread over there about a year ago. Hadn’t updated it in forever but after looking at it now I signed in and updated my build thread. Hopefully it gets more life in it now.

The site is extremely slow, and as the update was done, all the posts start on dec 24th 2022. I can still login, but unable to really post or search.

I can't deal with it on the iPhone anymore, and on the computer I discovered that it doesn't work well in Safari. Firefox and Chrome seem to work OK with it, I haven't tried DuckDuckGo yet.

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.

They may get it worked out. Upgrades can be a pain. I need to do one here, and I keep putting it off because it can take most of a day to do.

And when you turn it back on after the upgrade it isn't always rainbows and unicorns. :D

I apparently have an account on IFSJA but the forgot password function never sends an email. I also tried to set up a new account and never got the verification email.

So a problem--I tried to PM but apparently it doesn't work because everyone's inbox is full? I dunno.

If you're OK with me publicly asking I can do that tho.
