Ouray RE-Invasion 2022

Post by Yeller »

I know we have a specific sub forum for the annual Ouray event but wanted this to be available to everyone that may care so the largest topic forum it is, since it is FSJ related

I wrote a bit of coverage of the event for 4Low Magazine, not as media just as an attendee and the adventures getting there and home and should be coming out in their next issue.

4Low is a print only magazine this is available via subscription so if you want to read it you’ll have to subscribe to read the article. 4Low is an enthusiast magazine about all things outdoors so don’t think it’s all about 4 wheeling, it’s about the outdoor life style https://4lowmagazine.com/

Apologies for making this sound like a commercial. I personally know the owners, they are just regular folks and not a big corporation that put out a great magazine, that I feel privileged to call friends. If I waited until it published it would be too late for you to get your subscription to read about the event and adventure.

You can also buy electronic versions of the magazine if you just want to read it without the physical copy. You can get a full subscription, or buy them per issue.

I don't think this is the issue, but it shows the pricing: https://www.magzter.com/US/4LOW-Offroad ... ve/1028214

Look forward to reading it!

Thank you Stuka!!

Everyone seems to think I’m all dialed in on all of this stuff, really not just happen to try really hard and would rather use a hammer, welder and grinder LOL

Excellent. We have had some in the media say they would be there over the years, but I never saw it happen. Something about busted FSJs or some such excuse. LOL

I actually had no intention of covering the event, so with distractions I didn’t even take any pics at the event site, I had to ask for pics from some of you. The coverage happened from a discussion with Rich Klein of 4Low late in the day of the event.

toward the end of September/early October, I will be notified of the date once it is confirmed, I'll update this thread once I know exactly when. This article is part of the reason I've been on the quiet side about my trip, I didn't want to use up my material LOL.

Awe shucks ain’t nothin, just enjoying doin stuff😎

Funny you say that. In the mid 2000’s I was big in the competition rock crawling world, spotted for a few big names and not so big, really had a good time and still do it from time to time and am still passionate about the sport. Anyway…. I was at a comp spotting for Kenny Blume, I kept getting stopped from kids, adults, even other competitors asking for my autograph, thought it was odd they were asking me and not the driver, who was very popular. As it turned out about 6 months earlier I got interviewed by ESPN, I’d forgotten all about it. I also competed in the 1st televised rock crawling event, 4 or 5 years before. Turns out they had played both of those multiple times the week prior, everyone wanted the autograph from the TV celebrity. I was completely clueless lol. The event promoter finally tipped me off. So I can honestly say I’ve had my 15 minutes in the spotlight 😂

That is such a neat "accident", if you can say it that way, and I too look forward to getting your autograph as well someday :)

Thanks Yeller for just being you, as I enjoy your input!

Nice coverage of your trip.

On a sad note, we missed the date line to file for the closing of a certain number of trails in Moab, listed for reply on oct 7th... but it seems to be have extended to October 21st at midnite

https://www.trailsoffroad.com/blog/moab ... of-closure

The BLM is extending the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges public comment period. The comment period will close at midnight on Friday, October 21, 2022.
