Torque arm and bushing missing.

Post by Blueman85 »

Got a question for the group that I could not find referenced in the archives on either board.

I replaced the current transmission mount last year and as you can see, it's gonna need to be replaced again. This time I learned and plan to replace the old motor mounts as well. I ordered the full kit from BJ's that includes the torque arm stud and bushing that obviously I am missing.

Am I crazy or does my mounting bracket look nothing like the diagrams and pics posted in the past that include the torque arm and bushing?

Are there years when AMC changed the setup to not include the torque arm?

Also, you can't see from the pic, but the open bolt hole on the left of the mount does not line up through the crossmember. Not even close.

Am I missing a bracket that could extend this hole to a matching hole on the crossmember?

This is for an '80 but it should be the same as an '85.

Parts book shows a standard view from the left front. You are missing 18.200-1.

Quick question, where does the angled end of that part mount?

I recall it supports the exhaust pipe in six cylinder applications. Looks like it does nothing on a V8 car.
