Removing trim from bottom of Tailgate - 72 Wag

Post by W300 »

Hey all,

1972 Wagoneer

I am trying to remove the approx 1" trim strip that runs along the bottom of the tailgate. I removed the 2 screws, but it is still held on by something on the outside edge of the hinge area. Is there a stud on the back of it that gets a nut threaded on inside the tailgate?

Thanks!

This is all I could find in the parts manual. It looks like there is two clips and one screw per side?

Thanks Stuka, It's the 1 inch wide, thicker trim. I found one on ebay.

As you can see, it has two studs on the back, one on each side of the hinge. Apparently one of the pins is missing on mine, as it pivots on oneside of hinge. Getting the other nut off is gonna be fun!
