Welcome, quite a story, cannot wait to see the engine/transmission pictures.
I remember a diesel powered wagoneer in Spain, we could hear it coming a few miles away...

85 Gwag (229 Kmiles... the running test lab)
Awesome! Congrats. I look forward to seeing more pictures, especially of the rear doors and flares.. It would be nice to see what a professional conversion from back in the day looked like. I only know of one here that a member found years ago sitting in a driveway with a faded for sale sign in the back window. He has really spruced it up. The WT 4-doors are really special..but then I am biased in that regard.
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

It will take some more days, still arranging papers and fighting with insurance people. Seems they are happy to take care only of modern cars. When they hear "built in year 1980" there Is a big commotion. Never mind, will succeed.

The car have front manual locking hubs. Believe this Is unusual in these cars. What do you think ?
Manual locking hubs were available from the factory for 80+ FSJ's equipped with an NP208 transfer-case. Those equipped with full time cases (218, 219, 229) did not have manual locking hubs.
The back of the transfer-case should have a round plate that lists the model number. It will be something like `AM-208`.

I'll let you know.
Love that things mostly work the same way in Italy as they do here.
Also saw that you bought it--well done! The headliner is my favorite part. Beautiful! Congrats on a fun purchase.
