J-10 color?

Post by Stoney »

1979 J-10 I recently bought is gonna need a new paint job at some point here sooner or later. I'd like to keep the original color but I'm not sure of the color. The closest color blue to it is called "Wedgewood Blue" but its not quite it. Was wondering if anyone knew for sure and could help me out, thanks a lot :fsj:

If that first picture is your truck then I'd say it's definitely been repainted something non-factory. Going off the areas of original paint left on my J10 Wedgewood blue was much lighter, just as that paint sample shows. Could just be the lighting, but to me it looks more similar to AMC caravelle blue or the engine blue used from 69-73 (that's my uneducated opinion anyway)

Your truck looks like it has pealing clear coat, which as I recall, no J-Trucks with brows had clear coat from the factory. To me, that color does not look factory.

Looks like 9T Ensign Blue to me. It was a pretty common Honcho color. I could be wrong.

Hmmm, so it definitely looks closer to the AMC Caravelle Blue than it does the T9 ensign. Though if y'all are saying its not the stock color im not as concerned about getting an exact match. Though I do really like the color. I better pictures of the paint outside and inside so you can get a better idea of it

I missed the clear coat peeling. Thanks for additional pictures. Appears to be metallic? Now I believe it is not a 79 color option.
