Heater controls, broken buttons

Getting down to the final steps on my 1978 and have two of the chrome heater control buttons broken on the vac switch. What years are interchangeable for this assembly? I looks like the buttons are not replaceable. Also my AC controls are in the underdash unit and I believe that was factory installed right? In other words there wasn't an AC heater control in 78?

74 to 85 use same temp control unit. I am not too sure how you can swap those chrome tabs...

yes, AC command center is under the dash, fitted to the AC duct

I Took a peek in the strategic FSJ stock, I remember having a broken button on one of my spares, time to clean up...

You can pry the plastic button with 2 flat blade screwdrivers resting on the metal support plate of the heater control... some are harder to lift than others... warming up the button should help. You have to remove the heater control from the instrument cluster.

I have squared the broken one with a cutting wheel on the first 1/4", spread some tape and filedl up the end with JB weld... will post picts later
