Tailgate cone bushings

Post by bdrainy »

So...what's the trick to installing new cone bushings in my Grand Wagoneer's tailgate? Mine are completely gone so I bought a new set from BJ's and I just can't get them all the way through and seated in. Thanks!

I used a little bit of grease and think I may have loosened the mount a bit?

I've got them, haven't installed them yet.

Maybe a boiling water dip to soften them up? I assume you lubed them.

Check the Forum on BJ's.

Yeah, I greased them and got them around 90% of the way in. They are in far enough that it has stopped the terrible rattle my tailgate had. I wasn't aware that BJ's had a forum... I will check that out. Thanks!
