I like it. I have seen '75 Thriftsides before, one new and maybe two besides this since. Should be Fawn Beige, paint code 514 (look on your VIN tag). Not a common color for that year, as I recall. The stripes are likely dealer applied, to dress it up a bit.

nice, yes this is a point distributor (not the prestolite) , unless someone did a pertronix conversion. Aftermarket radiator that shows some green oxydation (leak?) and original shroud.

Interesting placement of the fuel filter...

I ordered a bunch of obvious/likely parts for it earlier today from Rock Auto. Just hope they all get there before the next time I'm back home in mid-June. A new radiator, cap and hoses are in that order as well as a new starter, solenoid, carb rebuild kit and a few other minor bits.

BTW: Yes, there's a 514 code on the firewall tag, as well as a 518 code (?).

Chek your carb stamp on the driver's side for this mark, it could be 1.08 venturi like in 74, and I can't remember when AMC switched to the 1.21

for years I was surprised to get such a good gas mileage... then at one point I spotted the smaller venturi stamp which was standard in 74!

I'll be sure to look for that when I do the carb rebuild. Where I live is at 5K feet above sea level, so smaller jets typically work better with the thinner air here.

That could be a points dizzy, but it looks like a Duraspark, and that box on the passenger fenderwell in front of the starter relay looks like a parts store generic Duraspark module.

this is why it is important to look at which carb venturi you have the jets are on a totally different spectrum, in 1974 for the 1.08 venturi , the stock jet is 47 while the later 1.21 venturi, it is 55 at sea level... I do not have the figures for 5K on the 1.08... but for the 1.21 it is a low 50's , such as 50 or 53, it all depends on so many factors, the current gas formulation is burning leaner... Also this carb does not have an electrical choke... so on very cold day such as encounter on high elevation, the choke can self close... I had this happens a few times... even on sunny days... I did built a cage shoved into the air horn to keep the choke opened... in fact in my set up it usually starts without the choke

BTW the box on the passenger fender is the external voltage regulator, you probably have a low amperage alternator 40 or 50ish Amp depending on what has been installed by the PO.... you might get ahead and do the ammeter bypass

518 is the trim code, Buff Vinyl full seat.

The Delco distributor cap has a points adjustment door that I do not see here, but I suspect it's hidden. The slotted hold-downs also say Delco, since the Duraspark has clips.

Factory would have been Prestolite, and it's not Prestolite distributor. The mystery module is probably the Prestolite ECU. It's roughly the same place as my '77, and a V8 will have different inner fenders.

An ampmeter bypass shunt and swap to a regular volt guage is on my to-do list, but not a big priority until after I get it running. I've been checking out those Dakota Digital analog guage sets and like the looks of those. Have to save up a bit before getting anything like that though.

And speaking of wish list items I'd have to save up for, I'd love to put this engine on an aluminum diet. Swapping in aluminum water pump, heads and intake would shed quite a few pounds from the engine (and my wallet). ;) I'm just thinking out loud here, so no real plans for any of that stuff just yet.

Btw, anyone know of a good source for a replacement windshield? I've been looking online and haven't been able to find any yet.

Safelite? From what I read, your local glass shop can replace it easily. I think it's one of those jobs that the pros do easily and at a reasonable price. Install yourself and you'll take a lot of risk for not much return.

Good to know they're still available. I was getting worried after not finding any new ones listed online.

Parts update: Most of the parts I ordered have already arrived at my house. All I'm still waiting on is the radiator and the HEI distributor. Those should both arrive this week, so hopefully I'll have everything needed to get it running when I get home next week. The only stuff I didn't get yet was basic stuff like fuel/vacuum/heater hoses, hose clamps, oil filter, oil, radiator fluid etc.

First step is going to be giving the engine a thorough degreasing. I hate working on a dirty engine, so once it's cleaned up, I'll give it a quickie rattle can job.

So how often does stuff like aluminum heads, 4bbl intakes and 4bbl carbs for the AMC 360 show up in the for sale section of the forum? Does anyone know any other places I might find parts like that?

Of those three things, a carb would be the easiest for me to find new if I had to, mainly due to the cost. The entry level FST and Procomp 4150 clones look like a decent choice with standard features that you have to pay extra for on an equivalent genuine Holley carb.

The two main intakes I'm looking at are the Edelbrock Air Gap or Performer (RPM?). Not looking to rev to the moon here, so off idle performance is more important than upper RPM range power to me.

The only AMC heads I've heard of so far are from Edelbrock and Indy. I've never had any Edelbrock heads before, so I don't know anything about them. I have run Indy 440-SR heads that were CNC ported by them, but they still required machine work to allow the rockers to fit between the pedestals for the shafts.

And FYI, none of this is in the cards until after I get the truck running reliably with the stock parts. Just doing a little more research so if I do come across a deal in the future, I'll know if it's worth getting or not.

TIA
