Engine dies

Post by tara »

Hi all,

hope you re fine despite virus.
few days ago, the problem began so i suspected a air leak before fuel pump. I found that the feed nipple of the pump was loose, i fixed that but it was better i was able to accelerate but engine started to die just after. So i removed my manual pump and install an electric one. same problem...
i have removed the motocraft to check it. there was a lot thick translucide water stuff in the carb bowl, so i cleaned it spray so air inside. the problem is that the gaskets are slightly damaged, not broken but i don't have any rebuild kit with me, can use some gasket sealant between gaskets and carb ?

any suggestion ?
thanks

You might try cutting your own gaskets.

yes, as will e, you can use cardboard from cereal boxes such as corn flakes... or if available your car part store may carry some, may be rockauto has them, yes they do , not too sure about the ideal thickness ... not too sure what is avail in the pacific islands?

the thick translucent stuff is gelling of the gas because of the added ethanol , or grain alcohol in the gasoline, alcohol is very hydrophyllic , your idle jets are likely to be slightly plugged... Idle may be hard to hold on...

thank you for your wishes, we are holding on the shelter in place (confinement), same to you and family and friends
