Can you (stain) the vinyl trim on these things ?

Ive seen people remove the Vinyl and paint a wood trim on.. Like they did on wheeler dealers. But what about staining the vinyl trim thats already on there ? For example my tailgate sees the sun 24.7 and its all white vs the rest of the Jeep still showing plenty of wood. Could i just buy a stain and stain it to make it look a little better lol ? Would that last on the vinyl stickers on there.

I tried the stains, but with a little practive the acrylic paint from the arts store is the best... I used to touch up the wood, it was good for almost 5 years, until the top vinyl layer peeled... so last year, I said the hell with fake wood paneling, lets paint the fake wood, and the trim as well... One side is good, for $20 worth of paint, I bought the big tubes and have still a lot left, lets find the picts... I need to add pict to the links...

2 tests with the white out trim and a good piece, it could be better if you spend more time, but for a trail rig, it is good enough, tourists are still taking pict while they walk by...

Thank you, the passenger side good for a practice run, but I messed up the driver's side, it is not as good... wrong color scheme as I was trying something different...
