Post by custom76 »

What is a good solution to replace these housing to body seals?
already checked BJ and TW websites.

Team Wagoneer shows tail light to housing gaskets coming soon, any other options here?

Thx

You pretty much have to make your own. Get some rubber sheet, and trace/cut the shape you need out. Thankfully thats not some super complex shape or body line.

jo-ann fabric and craft stores, carry some foam sheets in black or grey that are the perfect materials, I did the front and rear blinkers/tailights seals, found it, called little makers 12x18" foam 2mm thickness or roughly 3/32"

of course the 76 tailight will be a bit harder to cut, but the foam folds nicely

Will these work got the housing to body seals or just for the Lens seals?

Yeah, pretty sure Michel is thinking of the lens seals. I'd think used or fab is your only choice. There is a forum here and at IFSJA for parts sellers you can check. There are also junkyards ... might help to add your vehicle yea/model/equipment and your location to your signature.

It’s a 1976 Waggy, I’m in Arkansas, not much around here for junkyards anymore. I’ll visit the forums you suggested, hoping to find some new material that’s dimensioned to wrap the chromed edges and then make my own. Used ones are usually going to be brittle here in the south.

There's a good example in Full Size Jeeper's thread over on ifsja.org posts #1004 to #1008. http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthre ... ost1713188. It even has the exact product and photo of what he bought to use for it. Hope that helps.

Good option, ordered some that go on some old Chevys just to see if they might work, were cheap enough, will let community know if they are another option. Thanks
