That's interesting. After the 1414D (Super Wagoneer), the tags are inconsistent on 1414X... at least as far as we can tell from survivors. Anything with a 999 special paint code will have one for sure. It's been a little while since I focused on this, but as far as I can recall right now, we haven't found a tag on an Avocado Mist era 1414X. I'll dig thru my notes. I also asked a guy that has had one in the past. I don't have a number recorded for one.

I just picked up 1414X19 300190. It lived in Colorado most of its life, but it is here in Texas now. Presidential Red Interior, White exterior. Looks to be pretty complete. Some rust in rear wheel wells, Rockers, and some in front floor pans. Is there a list of all thats accounted for anywhere?

Hi, just joined the group and wanted to share some information. I recently acquired a 1969 custom special VIN # 1414x19301451 and a few years back I had the chance to buy VIN # 1414x19302773 which according to the VIN sticker was built in May, 1970. The '70 appeared to originally be white with tan/doeskin interior. At some point somebody repainted it Island Blue. Sadly, some piece of work bought it and to my knowledge, it has been canibalized for parts. Last known whereabouts was in the Nashville, TN area.

Recently picked up a 1971 (May, 1971) 1414x 19600082 with the 360. Paint code says 999 which I think should be baja yellow or avocado mist, but its candle light yellow I think (stock). Sat for 30 years in a yard in high altitude desert, so pretty good shape. Odometer says 43,000, may actually be 43k and not 143. Automatic with console shift and factory A/C.

999 is the code for any special paint and only the SSR&O sheet told which... and those are NLA. Still, with only a few colors available on the Custom Specials, it's usually relatively easy to sus out the color. A picture of a good part of the paint could help ID.

Is the SSR&O tag still attached? If so my guess it will read D5311. A picture of both the SSR&O and Trim Code Tags would be wonderful. Also a picture of the VIN tag?

So far all the units in that 600XXX range have proven to be Golden Lime.

What color is the interior, Charcoal?

Does it have a clock in the console?

Golden Lime with a charcoal interior sounds very fancy. Was that a metallic color? Just curious.

Here are some pictures. Interior is tan and unfortunately, no clock. The wasp nest was one of about 15. Probably not stock. ;) What is the SSR&O tag? Paint code is 999 and trim code is 323

That looks like Golden Lime to me.

SSR&O= Special Sales Request & Order. Basically that signified special equipment was installed and often that meant special paint, which the 999 paint code signified.

Great article and thanks for the help. I found the SSR&O tag and it say's D-5311, so that makes it Golden Lime. Of course, now I need to try and find a paint manufacture that makes this golden lime and not the AMC green golden lime.
