Parking Lights

Post by Typical10 »

Howdy, so I put new parking lights with harness in today, bought em from team grand wagoneer. The blinkers work with the old but not with the new ones. Has to be a short maybe? The parking lights work, just no blinking. Any suggestions, thanks jeff~

Just to limit out a weird switch issue, do the rear tail lights still work with the turn signals?

No led, stock replacement. Now the front blinkers works until I turn the headlights, then they won't flash but the rears do. But it shows the blinker flashing on the dash..
Thank you~

What comes with the replacement lights? I suspect the replacement is wired wrong. You'll need to compare the new and old lights side by side and find the difference. Pull the bulbs out and use your multimeter to measure which wire goes to what contact in the original and the replacement. Not something we can do remotely. (Or you could send the parts back as defective).

I suspect the new harness. Compare the old one with what you got now. Multimeter or at least a test light is a must have for diagnosing electrics.

It is a bit of mystery to me what years have markers blinking with turn signals or not. A lot of people have them blinking, mine never did and all wiring is original (except my modifications, but I haven’t touch either of those). Schematics for lights in TSM for 89 have few errors, but even then I don’t see anything that would make them blink. If you get to studying differences between two harnesses - please post about it!

Just got a new LH parking light from Crown, the park light and turn signal wires were reversed. I have a problem getting it to snap into body. Same problem with old ones that I got from BJ's. It goes in but doesn't stay the whole lens comes out, reason for new one. Anyone else have this problem?

Reversed connections are very common, I think BJs even mention it on the site. I replaced both lights and both took a lot of persuasion to snap in, after some gentle filing on plastic tabs

Found the problem in the new pigtails. Bought them from team grand wagoneer. Wouldn't snap in on the right side, so I used a dremmal and relieved a skosh where it snaps in. On to putting in New body mounts. Thanks for the input~

Yea my crown amber front lights the wires were reversed. I swapped them and thry work fine after that.

The bulbs though are the wrong bulbs. They use too much wattage and cause the blinkers to blink too slow. Had to buy different bulbs with lower wattage snd now my blinkers blink fine

I changed out the round blinker fuse from the aluminum factory to an upgraded smoke colored clear one and that sped them right up.
