Does anyone know where the fuse for the headlights might be on a 1970 J3600?
Thanks
Bernie

No fuse box, all inline fuses. Sure the dimmer switch and headlight switch work? Those are the big culprits to dysfunctional head lights, especially the dimmer switch.

I'm told there is a circuit breaker in the headlight switch. No fuse for the lights. No fuse panel. Agree, the dimmer switch is a common failure. Trace the wiring with your multimeter.

same switch from 63 forward until 78, with small changes from 79 till 85, with circuit breaker that fails after a while, the switch will get warm, warmer, really warm... then off

Switch is a standard General Motors part which contains a self-resetting thermal circuit breaker. The idea was that should there be a short in the headlight wiring, the lights would go out, but come back on automatically. This was viewed as a safety feature and most cars still use circuit breakers to protect the main lighting circuits. The problem with a fuse is, once it's gone, it's gone and you're in the dark.

If you have no power to the lights, look at the dimmer switch and main light switch as suggested. If you have never replaced a headlight switch, there is a button on the bottom that releases the knob, then the bezel nut.

Thanks All,
I already put in a new light switch, and you're right, the old one was very hot. I tested all the lights, and the wiring for continuity. When I tested the Dimmer switch, the wires leading to the switch were OK and the dimmer switch failed. I put in a new switch and the lights work. Thanks!!
