So, I picked up a 1987 Grand Wagoneer. But it's pretty basic. The windows are all manual. There is no cruise control. The plastic piece that covers the radio location in the dash has never been removed. There is no speaker wiring, and there are no openings for speakers in the original door panels (or anywhere else), and there is no music radio antenna or even a hole in the body where the antenna would have been mounted. There have never been holes for a roof rack, and there have never been woodgrain panels or trim on the body. The floors are black vinyl. The seats are vinyl (no electric adjusters). The front center armrest doesn't match, and in the floor in front of and behind the center armrest there are holes where possibly military equipment and gun racks were mounted. There are two holes in the roof where (I think) military radio antennas were mounted. And on the front door exteriors I can barely see traces of what appears to have been a government emblem/logo. The keys that I got with it came on an old Oregon National Guard keychain. The color (still original) inside and out is a very pale green, sometimes mistaken for a cream color. A similar color was available on older 60s and early 70s full-size vehicles, but not in the 80s. It is practically rust free.
Maybe some of you guys can help me out with some information about government use of Grand Wagoneers in the mid 80s. I have looked all over Google, but I have seen no other Grand Wagoneers like this one.
Never heard about those though, I thought that by the end of production run they were all packed with options by default. Sounds like some special government order, guess national guard wanted to cruise in style

1988 Grand Wagoneer - AMC 360 with ProFlo4 MPFI, TF727, NP229 FOR SALE 2021 JLU Willys EcoDiesel - new shiny toy
Yeah, since Cherokees went to the XJ platform in 84, AMC offered the GW with stripped down features for fleet use. This is the first one I've seen that had bucket seats. They were commonly used in USFS and different municipalities for Police duty. Pretty sure the last year for availability was 1988.
We have had a few other members here over the years with the forest service mid to late 80's wagoneers. Bare bones, manual everything. And as I recall they also had NP208 transfer cases instead of NP229s.
I think they are really cool, and would actually be my choice if I was to try and find a grand wagoneer. Except that they are fairly rare.
