2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with 4.7 engine

Post by bigun »

Anybody have any knowledge on these, or the 4.7 engine, it has 235,000 miles on the odometer looking for a dump run, go to the lumber yard type truck. Really don't want to tow anything heavy behind the Explorer.
Thanks

The 4.7 is a good engine except for the timing chains. At 235k this one has definitely had them done at least once. And its not that they are prone to failure, they just need to be done at specific intervals. And its a pretty big job to do them.

While it would be smarter to fix one of mine, Maybe I'll look at the 84 with the 5.9
