Well tank replacement.

Post by Phils67 »

This probably relates to nothing other than me venting out my frustrations but good God I overthink things WAY too much. I stewed and stared at a new well tank for my house for days because it was way different than my current outdated leaking galvanized tank and I overthought it so much to the point anxiety attacks and borderline alcoholism hit full swing.. Ended up going to a local plumbing supply house today and picking up all the parts to install it except one which comes in tomorrow. I got the entire thing mocked up in like an hour. This is so much easier than Jeeping. Seriously. Why did I ever choose mechanic as my profession? Plumbing is a piece of cake! Btw sharkbites fittings and PEX tubing are like the best invention since the internal combustion engine. Just saying.

You are only seeing the easy side of plumbing. Have you seen the guy crawling out from under the house soaked in liquids that you don't want to know what is in it'

I actually have seen the ugly side if it. I have 2 good plumber friends, one is super busy and can't get here to do this for me and the other died in May so it is time i learn a new skill set. I've done smaller plumbing jobs but this is one of if not the biggest undertakings I have dabbled with.

Robert Heinlein's character Lazarus Long, had a list of things that a human should be able to do.

https://www.famousquotes.com/author/lazarus-long-quotes

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
Lazarus Long"

Congratulations your on your way! :-bd

It's all in the basement and exposed. None of my plumbing is in the walls, I have a single story ranch so everything is easy to get to as far as plumbing. Except the pipes going to the shower heads, those are in the walls

Finally had a few hours so I did my install. Only took maybe an hour to hook it all up and test it. Then had zero pressure at my faucets and showers. Went crazy for like 3hrs trying to figure out why. Threw a new filter in and I have water pressure like a fire hydrant now. Another project gets a "DONE" stamp. I officially declare myself a professional ground water God. Lol
