Nope turbo is on the other side. Runaway diesel from fumes. Caused the engine to run away fast enough to float valves causing fumes in the intake to ignite, blowing that rubber coupling up and the fumes around the truck. Blew the hood open all the windows except driver window as the door was open.
I was in the cab trying to shut down the PTO when it blew up.
OSHA is going to have field day investigating, as is the NTSB, Salvation Army, Cub Scouts....
Glad you survived!!
Did you have to change your drawers, or just drain your boots?
Run-a-way is Scary. For those that dont know, a Run-a-way is when the engine gets fed fuel/engine oil via bad piston rings and crank case pressure. Enabling the engine to race--feeding the case pressure that pushings more engine oil into the cylinders-etc-etc
My old DI Rabbit would do it sometimes on the freeway at high speed. What a smoke screen! Nothing the brakes wouldn't stop, though.
Also can happen if the turbocharger seal lets go and feeds oil into the intake.
