Best heavy duty clutch to use

Post by Smkozma69 »

Hey guys while my motor is out I want to replace the clutch assembly with a reliable heavy duty one as I will be using my truck for towing and wood hauling (and some car shows in between). I figured this is the best place to find out! Thank you

I don't know where you are, but my last clutch, just over 6 yrs ago, came from NAPA and was installed by an independent garage/mechanic. It has performed smoothly, positively, and flawlessly, NAPA also resurfaced my plate so their warrantee would be in force. If disaster struck, I'd do them again.

I would just get whatever good brand is available. The factory Borg-and-Beck 11" clutch was used in even the heaviest GVWR trucks that Jeep offered. Sachs or Luk should both be fine. Anything beyond that is a hot rod part, like a Centerforce.

Luk is typically my go-to brand for a good reliable clutch. That's what is in my J-10 as well as my 350z. They both work well. Your flywheel should be drilled for both a 10.5" and an 11" clutch, get the 11" if you can. As mentioned above, a clean flywheel makes a pretty big difference as well.
