Great way to run the hoses thru the firewall, for me always one of the biggest problems, did you use the ECM to cover hole where the heater case was?
BTW OEM style condenser is available thru UAC (and many others) but top discharge line from compressor is hard to duplicate.

I had the hole for the blower welded shut and just mounted the ECM in that spot. I am trying to keep stuff off the wheel wells so it doesn’t look as cluttered.

Thanks for the complement on the hoses. Nice to hear, especially from you! The only issue with that mounting style is that the high pressure port is a little close to the wheel well. I barely have enough room to get my gauge kit on there.

If I was doing it over, I’d try to move it up a 1/2” or so. Not much room with the cowl vent though.

Here is how I mounted the controls. I used the space on the dash where the driver’s side cowl vent control and also the tailgate glass defroster. I blocked off the cowl vent on that side… The Dakota Digital unit I am using has a built in defroster control so I was able to use that real estate without losing the functionality.

Envious of your hose install with the dash removed. I did it w/ the dash in, and it was not easy!

You made sure you have clearance for the wiper linkage of course.

Yes, I ran the passenger side vent hose over the ashtray and radio. The supports on the back of these hold it in place away from the wiper linkage. Passenger defroster is low enough behind the radio and above the evap unit so clears as well.

What I am wondering with these vintage air units, you run the water lines from the car’s cooling system inside the cab for heating, how safe are the connections? I mean, if one of those lines fail, you have hot coolant into your cab right?

What are the precautions for that not to happen?

I wasn’t worried about the hot water lines. There’s no pressure in those lines when the unit is set to cool, and the chance of a failure there is slim. It would only spray their toes. You could do hard lines if you were really concerned, but custom line fabrication is needed.
