TITD 2021 Time to get your jeep thing on!

Post by will e »

It's time to start thinking about Thanksgiving in the Desert (TITD) 2021. You know the dates: Saturday before Thanksgiving. You know the location: In a FSJ down by the river. I plan on showing up on Friday again. I am happy to do the Turkey and snacks before/after dinner. But if someone wants to flex their 'in the middle of the desert turkey cooking skills' let us know!

It's never really that organized but if you plan on making an appearance then post up and let us know how many are in your troop and if you plan on bringing something to share.

For the uninitiated it's a family friendly pot lock on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We meet in the desert near the river out past Florence. Most folks camp the night but some just join us for the day. Many folks bring their FSJ's but sometimes we show up in Chevy's, KIA's, Fords and ugly old 'Motor Homes' named Uncle Betty. I think there was a Bonneville one year too (what was that Tom showed up in?)

It's always a good time and the weather is usually perfect. And this year we will have a full moon which is great for alien sightings or the occasional fall in a ditch.

I will keep a roster here on the first page.

Will e: Probably just me. Turkey (for now). Also appetizers and late night cheese crisps.
Curly: 2 A side dish. (But may be having a baby so we will see!)
TAD: 1 or 2 Gravy and Tamale's!
Pat and Noel: 2. Unspecified (or specified on facebook)
MotCat (John and Carol) 2 - Unspecified.
fxtechphx 2 - Yummy Cheese potatoes. (By popular demand)
Mike Harris - 1? (Curly said he was coming)
RStep - Stuffing.
Derek - 1 - Unspecified.
bob king - Pie

I just came here to start the thread. It will be me for sure and probably my wife as well. We are on Grandbaby watch, the kid is due right around that time, so we may have to cancel. So, for now, put me down for 2 people and a side dish.

I'll copy and paste the first post over on FB and keep it updated.

I’ll be there.
Not sure what I’m driving, it’s right after the Las Cruces FSJ event so it might be Pushmobile, or Push might need a nurse.
Gravy and Tamales for me.

I will definitely be there. I will have 1-5 people. Kind of depends how family things are going.
We usually bring cheese potatoes but can bring something else if that is wanted instead.
Tomorrow we may face destiny, we may fight and die and fall to the fires of perdition, but tonight is ours, and we drink and make merry.

Hey Tim - John & Carol will be there. Carol said she wasn't going unless we were taking the 78 Cherokee (not the 2018). So got it running this past weekend and off to Dave's Gas Tanks Monday to finally get a new tank. Still haven't fixed the turn signal lever, but I have arms to stick out the window.

Damage from Las Cruces is minimal so I will be driving Pushmobile, just one thing to fix and a few to check.
Which means I’m dragging the small trailer behind with my gear so I won’t have room for firewood but once I’m unloaded we can use the trailer and hunt some in the washes.

Put a BMW emblem on it, you will be fine.

Glad you guys are going to make it again!

Hey! Glad to hear the damage was minimal. I've got my Jeep running too so I'll finally be making it with the Jeep again for the first time in a couple of years.

And Derek is working to get whatever the heck we call his J10 roadworthy again. He's got it running and moving. He might show up without a dash board secured in place but he's working on it.

Glad to hear! It will be nice to see you again. Hoping to drive my new (to me) Wagoneer. This thing is slooooooooow, not looking to driving Black canyon or Copper canyon hill on I-17!

Fortunately or unfortunately, I cut way way back on my drinking. I will be testing myself if I see any large pink bunnies scurrying around the campsite on Saturday night.

I thought it was aliens?

Last year it was some drunk on a SxS looking for his U-joint.

I thought he was looking for his dog, which was actually following him. That guy had no business operating a motor vehicle and certainly should not have been driving through people camps.

He was looking for his dog, but I do remember something about a U-joint. Oh well, good times. :)
