Headed over to the oily side since the cost has dropped but only if I can do a better option than the Jatco automatic.
Goodbye for now.

I was following a build a few years ago guy was getting some impressive numbers from his swap. I have been watching some OM617 swaps on youtube and they are saying to stay away from MD4x4 Adapter kit use Doomsday Diesel AX15 To OM617 Adapter Kit

Convert it because you like Diesels, not to save money. Prices will change and even if they don't it'll take a long time for the payback.

I’m looking to convert because it’s been done before. 27mpg in a W4 with automatic is decent and the power/speed ratio isn’t bad either. The NPR was built for in town so top speed without a tall O/D sucks.
Goodbye for now.

Those kind of MPG numbers are in Best Case scenario, 30 mph wind at your back, down hill opposite the direction of the earth etc to get 27 mph. Because the small diesel trucks with modern Injection/Overdrive transmissions are getting 24-27 mpg. I've heard the stories of 4BTs with 37" tires getting 37 mpg lugging down the road at 1600 rpm--I dont think so

4BD2TC is a different animal than 4BT and better designed for modern roads. Double overdrive running near empty load lets my truck practically idle at freeway speed. (Needs one more gear up yet)
Properly dialed in, the motor does very well. It has 250,000 miles so it’s broken in. The tank holds 55 gallons apparently but the low fuel light comes on at 3/4s of a tank and reads E. I’m estimating 800-1000 miles per tank loaded. 17-20 mpg in a flat front brick.
Goodbye for now.
