Stock air cleaner and fresh air hose

Post by scottb »

Looking for stock air cleaner and fresh air hose (that goes behind pass-side headlight) for my 89 GWagoneer. PO has a cruddy open 13" air cleaner on top of the Holley Sniper system and I'd like cooler air.

DM pls

It’s worth noting that the factory air cleaner is very restrictive. It’s designed to act as a restrictor plate for emissions.

You may want to look for one from another vehicle that is less restrictive. Maybe one from a throttle body truck? Unless you don’t mind losing power of course and want the authentic look of the OEM one.

I've read that some of the newer vehicles, with the oblong filter box mounted to the inside wheel well, do fit most of the FI throttle bodies we older Jeep builders use. Heard that is across most makes, and relative more to engine size close to what we usually have.

Gives more air flow than the old metal ones, and protects air intake better than the open filter after market ones usually used.

I have the original steel OEM on my '84 GR Wagoneer with 401 ci, and interested to see how it performs with 2 bbl MC2150 carb. Will be a few months before road ready, but watching threads now to note updates I should look for, so ready when its ready!
