1983 short bed

Post by thej10guy »

Hey everybody I am looking for a short bed for a jeep j10. I’m looking for something cheaper, not perfect necessarily. I am on a tight budget. I initially was just going to get outer bedsides but the inner bed/bed floor is rusted out to. I am in Wisconsin near the west border. If anyone has anything near there or knows of something in the area please let me know.

Possible to redo your bed with wood?

Is there enough of the sides left to make the bottom lip to attach?

Just thinkin'

Not really. If we really wanted to, it would probably be possible but with the amount of time money and labor it will be easier to just get a new/replacement bed. Especially because the bed side end-cap things are full of body filler.

There you go.....when you find one.

Could go flat bed

Could mount a camper on there

Ha ha.....just thought about a clown car from my youth.....mount another cab and front fenders/grill....backwards
You would have a 4 dr, and open the rear hood for hauling stuff.....had to share :)

Occasionally my wife sees' a fifth wheel camper and says "I like that"

I ask her if I can cut the back of the cab off the Wagoneer, install a fifth wheel hitch, then we could pull one of those!

Guess her answer is always....... :)

The outside of it would probably maybe be fixable, but the problem is the bed mounts, the inner bedsides, bed floors and the taillight/box end cap things are rusted all the way through. There is spots on the inner bedsides where I could fit my hand through pretty easily. And I would run a flat bed on it, and short term, that might be what I have to do, but the truck was a factory honcho, and I plan on putting the honcho stripes back on when I restore it. The problem is, before I got it, it had been in an accident to the point where the bed had to be replaced, and so when they prepped and painted it they did an awful job, so the bed is super rusty but the cab and front clip is pretty much perfect. It’s kind of annoying but it’s the hand we’re dealt.

Yes it is, and remember.....we ALWAYS have the winning hand :)

Might need to go to a trailer supply place, and grab a couple of the Peterson oblong waterproof lights to mount on the rear corners till you get it redone.
Could tap them right into trailer wiring connector.
