I had recently seen an NOS starter on eBay. I had to look thru vintage jeep Kaiser parts to find it or possibly RAMBLER vintage parts .
I do alot of searching for parts using different search subjects for Jeep stuff including the 327 exhaust manifold comes up under Rambler . So look in vintage RAMBLER parts for 327 items .

You won’t find new or rebuilt. The prestolite starters just don’t exist anymore. You’ll have to take yours in to a shop that can rebuild it. I had mine rebuilt many years ago and it’s been reliable. I’ve picked three cores since then as insurance.

EBAY , I found quite a few last night . Not certain if those are 327 units . There's a prestolite Jeep starter listing now as of this post today . There are many 327 Delco units listed . I am not certain of the fit on those .
Go and research . Also tbete are rebuild shops that still exist with parts to rebuild . You of course need to go online and just look around to find them . I shop here in Ventura was 1 for example
AGS rebuilders in Sant Barbara I've used for 40 years is another and I think is still operating .

Thank you. I found the Prestolite MDY 8101A on eBay but the sellers won’t respond to messages. That is why I was hoping to find one from a member. More communication.

Re: Prestolite Starter for 327 AMC 1968 Jeep Wagoneer
I was thinking on the few on ebay , one for the commando it says and cj5 s. You might be able to install your nose piece from your old unit , and the drive can be replaced . Use the new motor housing assembly armature and so on . I've done this on Ford and GM Delco starters . You might make a call to some rebuilder and ask if they can tell you if this could work . Since these are antique starters , it think they would be of some help getting you going ,or even have one on the shelf or the parts . These are not hard to work on . As to your EBAY seller not answering you , I buy from new jersey jeep parts on eBay. Everything comes on time and no problems, BUT , they never once have answered 1 question. Not once . However some eBay sellers just don't care either way about a sale or they would answer you . I did find an NOS JEEP bendix drive in the original box . For a prestolite I believe .

Oh , and on that EBAY NOS drive assembly , it did not say for the 327 . But worth a look in case it can work .

You are right about eBay sellers not answering questions. Just a risk I need to get comfortable with. I already missed one on eBay while waiting for a reply. They said it was a MDY 8101 that came off a 1966 Jtruck. No photos and I don’t think the Jtruck starters are the same as the Suoer Wagoneer starter. I will take a look at that NOS assembly. Thanks for your help
