Cannot upload pictures. Has something changed? I even tried to upload pictures that I have uploaded before and still get the error.
Could not upload attachment to ./files/

Any info? Thanks George.

Something is broken, but wont be able to look into it more until i get home. Too busy here at work t dig too much into it.

It does effect everybody, and its not that the allowed space is consumed.

I noticed that issue sunday night when my pix weren't showing up.

Normally in the IMG tag I simply type http://www.xxxxxxxxxx.xom but in order for the pix to show up during this funky period, I had to use http://xxxxx.com

I think it was a DNS issue that has since been cleared up.

Jim

[EDIT] I'm referring to offsite image links, not images uploaded to this site. May be more than one problem.

In this case its an issue with attaching images to a post, which uploads them to the site here.

I have this fixed for the time being. But will need to look into a long term solution here soon.

The hosting server uses an https URL which means it is a secure link. If you try to hot-link to an image via https:// you'll get the IMAGE text the same as if you had mistyped the address. My private server runs on linux and is case sensitive so I have to make sure I get the file name correct or I get the IMAGE thing too.

Unfortunately many hosting services as well as regular websites are going or have gone to https so you may have to find one that doesn't.

If you have Flickr, just use their share feature. It gives you the UBB code and everything. Just paste it in and it works. And then you don't take up space on this server.

The links aren't obvious anymore.

Thumbnail auto creation has been disabled because it was causing issues on the server. Just click the link itself to view the image. Or if you want to display it, right click the link and copy it, and then put it in image tags.

Most forums have thumbnail auto creation disabled for the exact reason that I have now had to disable it for.

I know recently at least one forum was complaining people were putting one pic in the thumbnail and a different pic in the link.
