New to forums and thought I would show off my dump truck.

Post by Gladiator Dump Truck »

It's a 1967 J-2000 that has been in my family since before I was born. My father bought it for the borough of Huntingdon in Huntingdon Pennsylvania in the mid 1970's. It was used by the Borough as a maintenance vehicle for the roads and graveyard. This photo is probably from about the early 1990's some time. The truck is still sitting at the family farm and hasn't run since 2002 when my father died. I guess it was just sorta forgotten about. Anyway I hope o start fixing it up this summer. It's going to need some work. I'm sure I can get the engine running but the suspension has totally collapsed under its own weight and the frame rails are resting on the axles. So the first thing I need to do is find replacement leaf springs. I think the rear springs my need to be custom made. Anyway just thought I would share.

Welcome to the forum. That's a nice rig. You must save it! I hope you can get it back on the road with little effort and investment. Of all the vintage vehicles still on the road, not many have been in the same family as many years as your J-2000. I'd love to have one just like it.

Thanks for sharing !
J-trucks Duallies are rare, let alone a J2000, almost all the duallies had the long wheelbase
Elliott created a registry for these awesome trucks http://www.txfsja.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=20
Do you mind sharing the VIN or a pic of the VIN plate ?

New springs would be certainly custom made, i should be able to find the OEM springs rating for this truck if it may help

Nice truck. Do you have the plow blade for the front? For springs you can also check with Betts Springs. Use their Web site to find a local store. They will have all the stock info and can make springs for any thing. Good luck, start your work plan now so you can stay on track. Ask questions when you get stumped. We can find an answer.

Cheap Hobby, If you take a closer look the snow plow blade is actually in that photo. :funnypost:

Mud89, I have to go take some pictures of it… I need some of the license plate and vin number for the DMV so I can have them do a title search for it. My mother has no clue what my father did with the original title. I will add it to the dually registry then. :-bd Thanks for all the responses guys. Any info you guys can share is a big help!

Went to the farm and took some photos of the jeep truck this morning, I wanted to find an old registration card for the DMV to issue me a new title. And I did find one, well two actually. Plus I found the owners and service manuals! The truck it a little sweatier now than it was in that first photo I posted. Anyway here are some more photos.

you are my hero
I got some FSJ litterature which shows that certainly less than 20 SWB duallies were produced with the 327 and you have the 7th (VIN plate) !
Total SWB duallies production including the 6 cylinders rigs is less than 100.
Probably the rarest truck ever posted on the forum or on the mother board, with an audio-visual panel, government sale, posted one or two years ago :-bd
Too bad that our trucks are not really collectible except maybe the super waggy, your truck would be at the top of the list

Forget Barret Jackson
I remember a Gladiator at a Mecum auction though but it was a stepside and chiefly a real time-capsule, like coming out from the dealership, and not especially rare
Is there a Jeep museum at Toledo ? You truck should have a place there :-bd

This thread is cool for a FSJ noob like me. First, it's cool to see what great truck is in after sitting for so long. Second, it's so cool that you guys can find the production numbers on these things.
1989 Grand Wagoneer - Rebuilt 360, 2" Alcans, 10" travel Gabriel Guadian shocks.
1996 Land Cruiser - 1HD-T Diesel, Gturbo (23psi), Wholesale Automatics 442f, F/R ARBs, 35" Duratracs, ARB Rear Bumper, OME 2" lift, home built sliders and aluminum belly skid
2000 Honda Civic - Integra GSR engine, transmission, shift linkage and axles, 200hp, 33 combined mpg

That is one cool truck. Better yet it was your fathers. I would love to have my dad's old Wagoneer but it went to the bone yard long ago.
