1977 Cherokee Chief S LS1 build
Hi All!
I've been on here for a while, but do not frequent on the site. I'm finally getting around to posting my rig...after quite a bit of history! Some may notice this rig was for sale in the sale section. It did sell about 1.5 years ago and I ended up buying it back! I realized it was a huge mistake to sell it and fortunately the buyer had to sell it 1 year after purchasing it and gave me first crack at it. Now it's back home and never ever leaving again!
Major mods are as follows:
LS1 4L60E conversion
NP241 with SYE
Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear 4.56 gears
3 link front suspension
Custom built roll cage, sliders, and bumpers with tire carrier
Rhino front grill conversion

Nice looking build!
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.

The Rhino grill gives it the Rolls Royce look, with a 4x4 upgrade

Great looking Cherokee! I just did a search for your posts, hoping to find a build thread... none.
If you get a chance, a few pictures of how you set up your cage would be appreciated. I am always looking for little ideas that may inform my plan to add one to my GW.
Welcome back.

Welcome back.
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

Yeah...I'm not great at stopping to take pics and document anything. Once I get going, I gotta just go...
Here are some more pics though.

How did you make that shifter boot? Very cool, I need something similar for mine! Great work, very good quality!

The shifter boots were custom made at a very reasonable price. I am super happy with the end product.

Great truck!! Any info on the front and rear suspension? Are they custom one-off or can those arms and cross members be purchased?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: 1977 Cherokee Chief S LS1 build
I got the front suspension custom made by a fabricator here in SoCal. He specializes in roll cages and suspension. I can across him because he had an FSJ on display with the suspension and rollcage done at a show I went to. Great quality and very reasonable price compared to others I’ve gotten estimates from.

I haven’t touched the rear yet besides the shocks. Most likely will go with some new springs from Atlas, since their local to me. Also considering Deavers.

Who built the suspension? Can you give us a name of the shop?
