We have life!!!!
I finally got my right side knuckle machined, drilled and tapped. Put some new ball joints in it, reinstalled the cleaned up spindle studs, and stuck it back on the axle.



I also picked up some high steer arms from a local who went to a dana 60(lucky bastage).

I did make some jeep progress. Front axle is back together.



Now I need to get the trans attached and figure out how my crossmember is going to work out.

Got the trans 'in' today. The rear of the trans pan is sitting on the cross member with it in the forward location, rear holes will move it too far back. Going to try and figure out if it would be better to modify original cross member or just build one. Think I'll get the t-case first and see what it will hit. Sorry, no pics today.

T-case is bolted to the transmission. I am still unsure of what to do about the crossmember. I'm sure I'll think of something.

I've seen some pretty cool and simple FSJ cross members made from 2" square tubing by guys with minimal tools. If all else fails!

Yeah, I have something in my head using like 1.5" DOM, some tabs, plates and such.

Update, of sorts. Moved cross member to rear holes, need to make a riser to mate to the stock 4l60 transmission mount. Lines up good, just need it a bit taller. I also did some tinkering on a mount for a hyrdoboost. Make a couple templates, some tube, a little welding, paint, and bolts, and voila!:




I also bolted a few more items to the engine and threw the harness over it to make it look like I've made some progress. Need to make brake lines, fuel lines, tranny lines, get a tank, blah, blah.... Someday.

Haha. No real updates. I'm lazy and busy working on trying to rebuild my AR. I'll go look for those pics on my old laptop.

Found the old copies of Pete's motor mounts. I modeled mine after his design.

Hows it going with the shoestring budget? Looks like things are moving right along for you. I have been doing the same budget thing myself. Its entertaining to see how much you can make yourself. I myself have gone from a 258/t176 to a small block 350/t176, and now to a 5.3 with the same tranny. I'm inside now with the reasoning for uploading my latest pictures. Hand made fender exit headers.

Does anyone else who has a 84 or 85 Wag find the poor quality of Tom Collins diagrams aggravating for these years? I mean, come on

......... If you open them in their own tabs, the 86+ diagram gets HUGE and easily readable, while the 84-85 stuff is pretty much worthless.

Well, I went through this thread and fixed a bunch of dead pictures. I also figured out how to rewire my turn signal switch connector. I'm not using wagoneer tail lights, but going to use some cherk tail lights I got from MrTazWrench(I think that's how it's spelled). They are apparently differently bulbed than the wagoneer lamps, so I'm going to be wiring the back end, too. Jeep got back burner'd to finish my AR......

Hehe, almost 2 years of no updates. Man, I'm a loser.

I do have some more parts and pieces. Did get some actual 84+ Wag tail lights, so I'll be using them instead of the old Cherokee tail lights. Might actually wire the engine, run fuel lines, and make it go 'vroom'. All progress 'whether depending'(whether the wife allows $$$ for jeep stuff ).

Sounds like my project lol! At least yours allows you to have something with wood grain.

Wood grain sucks. It won't have any when I'm done. Most is already gone. I would like to paint it with a thin Wagoneer stripe like the mid 70s Wagoneers had.I just have no idea what colors I would use. Running/driving first, though.

Bust them out of the wood crate, set them free and burn the crate.

I don't like the wood either. The thin strip does look classy though I think. She says the shape of it is ugly. While driving an 08 grand cherokee. Pretty much the same damn thing in my eyes. Only the Cherokee is uglier lol!
