Wife is hinting she may want Roscoe (82 Wagoneer Limited) to have a little more "oomph". Mind you, he's not yet safely mobile but she remembers driving her old one "back in the day".
I have a fitting np241d which I’ll try to get working with an adjusted version of the original floor mounted high / low lever. I’ll need to make sure it has enough travel to reach 4 low but it would be great if I can keep it look original.

I still need to test it to see if it is any good, and then get a slip yoke eliminator kit to improve the driveline angle a bit.

That looks just like your photoshop mock up. You definitely validated your design with much less effort than me.

Advance preparation and work smarter not harder....I need to try that more often :) looks good.

It has been a couple of weeks, work got in the way as well as 2 last minute snowboardtrips with friends and my son.

However, back at it!
Got the front clip back on, finally looks like a car again! Alignment is tedious, with the new bodymounts everything fits different than it came off of the car. I ordered a ton of new bolts because these are visible with the hood open. Looks super shiny and new this way. Next time I’ll make some photos of the engine bay.

Image

Behind that front there is a lot going on, ordered some headers because the dodge challenger manifolds are a bit too close to the frame rails and the brake lines. Waiting for that to come in.
Also ordered a Holley power steering pump for the hemi with lower pressure than new pumps to be compatible with the Jeep steering box

Started the wiring today: engine is wired again, computer is on the firewall. now find the best route to inside the car. It is a big wiring loom, so I think I’ll end up separating it into 2 looms: one transmission, which has its own control unit. and one engine.

Next time more pictures!

I'm gonna be different and suggest the Cheese Grater style. My favorite is the pig nose since they are available, followed by the cheese grater, and the final edition.

Nice how tastes differ, I always liked the round headlights styles on these, and the pignose is plastic which I really wanted to get rid of.

I have the boobie and the razor, so it is going to be one of those.

I’ll probably make them both shiny and the one that won’t make the cut will be up for sale

Look what the mailman brought!
Gauges are in, so the mock-up of the clusters can start!

I put the gauges in an old mustang cluster and hooked it up to test.

Result makes me happy! Can’t wait to put this in its final location.

Started doing some chrome polishing, but I am really considering re-chroming the door handles, mirrors, rear piece, and Roodeschool parts, the rear piece is the least hazy, and this is the best I can get it

Image

From 3 feet it looks ok, but I bit more up close it looks like this( look close to the “n” and you see what I mean):
Image

The mirrors are similar, you see these tiny dull spots throughout the chrome on these pieces.

Any tips on a good treatment or should I bite the bullit and have it all re- chromed?

unfortunately not a single thing was done in that area. I'm doing 12 hour workdays (and I agreed to a day rate, Stupid!) but that will be done in two weeks. I hope to be able to spend more time on it then.

Got my new Holley conversion power steering pump in and on.
This pump has up to 1200 psi of pressure, instead of the modern pumps that are on these engines that give up to 2200 psi of pressure.

This is to keep the original restored steering box in one piece. A modern pump would blow the seals.

Then used some measuring tape to measure a new belt.

Today a bunch of new stuff came in:
The idiots at the freight forwarding service did not follow up on my instructions to leave everything in the original packaging so my wagonmaster woodgrain and trim kit worth 1800,- was thrown into a box with exhaust manifolds like this.

ImageImageImage

I was able to lay it flat on the heated floor in my living room and it straightened out over the day. 2 strips are damaged and I asked wagonmaster for the cost of replacement so I can file a claim.

Woodgrain was undamaged, wilwood hydroboost set is in and the two Jeep srt manifolds I gobbled together on eBay look awesome, so Friday I can install some new stuff.

Image

Also in the box was my Barton industries shift knob to maak the bad looking shifter that comes out of a Dodge Challenger look decent. ( it is a plastic t-shaped monstrosity that I turn into a ball knob shifter)

Will assemble that over the weekend and show the difference.

Sorry to hear about the freight forwarders. Disappointing when you've waited and then open it to see that. Glad to hear though most of the pieces flattened out and hope you get the replacements hassle free.

Looks like you're making good progress on the build and Barton shift knob is a great choice!

A little jealous on your power steering pump. On the L8T the pump is up close too the top of the block/heads. I'm replacing the factory reservoir (plastic junk) with an aftermarket aluminum unit from PSC with enough fluid and the necessary ports for hydroboots conversion. It's slightly shorter than the factory reservoir but still about 8 1/4 tall so gonna be close on hood clearance but think i should have about an inch to spare...finger crossed when I get it all mocked I won't have to modify anything!

Question - is that a metal gasket you have for the master cylinder mount or did you not paint that? I'm made a rubber gasket for my MC mount adapter since I couldn't find any pre-made to fit.

you mean the alum part on the firewall? that is the original brake booster mount that was on the vacuum booster. I kept it because I think that's what I will need to mount the hydro boost unit to.

Yep, that's what I meant.

Got it, kept mine too. Looked like a flat surface from the angle and thought perhaps you had a metal gasket for the booster....but should have deduced it was the booster mount.

I finally got the Jeep srt manifolds in.

Mounted them today and this is amazing: much thicker exhaust channels, much closer to the engine, and a better angle at the rear. I now have about 1,5” on each side between the exhaust and the frame.

Bonus is that now the oil dipstick fits without modification!

This thing has too many philips head screws!

Was very happy to see only some surface rust, zero rust on the roof, saves me a ton of work later!

Hope to hear soon when the engine will arrive.
Next week Friday I’ll take apart the rear hatch, rubbers are hard as a rock, lock is stuck, the rail that holds the window is rusted out, I have ordered the bj’s stainless version to solve that going forward.
