Tailgate wind deflector/spoiler

Post by Jasonjoli »

I purchased a tailgate wind deflector, and thinking of adding it to my 88 Grand Wagoneer. I have the mounting bolts but not sure exactly how to attach it to the roof. Does it use the same bushings as the roof rack? Or is there any specific hardware I need for the roof?ImageImage

Don't know about the mounting hardware, but Nice Job reskinning it, that looks great.
If you change your mind about installing it, I'll PM my mailing address.

I have a second one that I was going to re-skin and possibly sell. I'll keep you posted if you are interested

You will need some well nuts that will take a 1/4-20 thread. I have .jpg of the install instructions, but this site is difficult to upload pics. I'll try sending it in a pm.
Edit: can't do an attachement in a pm. I sent you my email address, contact me there and I will send it on.
I start what I finish.

Does anyone know where I could find rubber gaskets for where the brackets hit the roof for the wind deflector?

well nuts, bjs has them even team wagoneer or your local hardware store which has 2 different sizes such that the outside lip might be thicker, IIRC 1/4 by 20... looked at bjs they have a longer size avail, under the roof rack section / grommet

If you mean the pads.... I did not use the pad when reinstalling mine... old bicycle inner tube which are thinner could be used

BTW your deflector looks sharp, congrats

Thank you, I have the well nuts. I was talking about the flat gasket. I guess I could use something generic like the bicycle tube, just since I had seen the roof rack gaskets out there, there would be someone who carried these as well.

Thanks again for the compliment!
