Oh yeah he is excited about it. Went with the ax15 as it was actually a factory diesel manual with the NA Nissan 3.3.

That should be a big improvement over the Nissan diesel.
One me of the guys I work with is about to pull the trigger on the repower kit for his 'yota FJ60. I'm excited to see so many using this as it will show the manufacturers that there is interest and to keep offering it.
Pics are great and a cost spreadsheet would be appreciated as it goes.

I'll post up a spreadsheet as it gets farther along.

Update- the Woody is under the knife! Old drivetrain is pulled and truck of new parts are heading out!

I'll be setting up a classified for the original motor, Howell efi, and tranny shortly.

The Lokar sport shifter ships this week(hopefully) and been going back and forth with Greg over at Dakota Digital on the gauge cluster. Slower than I want but hey- progress!

I really like the idea of this build for a nice cruising vehicle. I will be watching this one. please conyinue to post your interactions with Dakota Digital. I really like your vision on the cluster.

I did check out the link to the original dash plans when i first came across this thread. I think the creator of that dash really created something that fits with the aesthetics of the original dash, but with modern amenities. What I'm very curious of is if dakota digital will be able to incorporate your request to display the J1939 CAN through the dash and eliminate the need of mounting another dash display. I hope you are able to accomplish that goal! I'm a fan of keeping these rigs as close to stock as posible and i think your idea follows those lines.

A little bad news on that front- from Dakota Digital- "Unfortunately your Cummins setup using J1939 protocol is a bit outside our wheelhouse. Our OBD-II/CAN interface is only suitable for J1850 protocol systems. That being said, our instrument systems can certainly be hardwired “standalone” and made to work in nearly any application."

I decided that it was still valuable for expandability and a clean way to integrate the warning light requirements for the engine, so I am going forward with the standalone version.

So need a sanity check- what is a good range for front differential clearance? Present positioning has about 6".

Are you going to run a sway bar that you never disconnect? And, are your bump stops low enough to prevent direct impact?

This thread excites me.
If you can find a way to cycle the front suspension you can get an idea of how much, if any, you may need to extend the bump stops.

Update: mounts are done and motor/trans/transfer case is installed. Bob notched the firewall to avoid clearance issues- it allowed him to pull back the entire drivetrain 2-3". New driveshafts are getting made. Still waiting on the Lokar shifter- going on a month and a half.

Can’t really tell, are the motor mounts solid,rubber/poly, or liquid filled??

And do the come with the motor? I'd think, given the intended market for this motor, that they do.

They are rubber- got the mounts from Axis Industries.
