Wondering if CJ pedals will fit FSJ

Post by jett1 »

I am wondering if the shifter pedals from a CJ are a direct bolt in to an 1989 GW? Has anyone done this?

Haven't yet, but I discovered that somewhere between '77 and '83 the brackets changed for the pedals. The one I had was long and went from under the dash at the steering column to the firewall. The other went from the firewall to just above the pedals. Maybe softening up the dash in case of impact?

Carnuck thanks. I am looking for what is the easiest way to convert my GW to use a nv4500. I am still in the tear down phase of my parts GW and am evaluating what drive-train I want to go with. I am leaning towards a 4bt / nv4500.

You might also check to see if the CJ pedals will work in the FSJ hanger/ support. I had to do this to a '68 camero that got a '95 T5WC trans.

If someone near Seattle has a CJ set, I have an FSJ set to compare them to (finally dug them out)

CJ pedals are several inches longer than FSJ pedals.
1977 Cherokee S, Ford 5.0, 5 speed, BW 1356, 33 x 10.50 BFG's. No longer my DD.
2007 Mercury Milan, 2.3L, 5-speed, now my DD. 29 mpg average.
