thanks for the input, the nv241c what would I find this in and does it come bolted to any 700r4's? trying to find something I can pull off something and put in with as little mod work as possible I do understand I will need to get an adapter from motor to trans and probably redo drive lines. also will I need a new cross member or just move the one I have?

i just did this a few months ago to my 78 wagoneer. I didn't do a write up or anything. I went with the advance adapter to bolt it up to the 360, and bolted a jeep dana 300 to the 700r4 using a jb conversion input shaft in the 300 and just a stock chevy adapter to bolt the 300 to the 700. the 300 is a gear drive case with no chain. i also twin sticked the 300 while i was at it. it wasn't a cheap project, but im really happy with the results. what gears and tires size are you running? any questions, feel free to pm me.

I'm running a 700r4 with the stock chevy NP208 bolted to it in my 'J20. Works great.

thanks for the input guys what rigs does the np208 come in with the 700r4 already attached want the easiest and least expensive switch I can get considering the adapter from motor to trans is about $500 and don't know what the drive lines are going to run me unless u guys have any good cheap fixes for drive lines or anything else I might be overlooking i.e. crossmember ect.

You have to watch, any of the ifs Chevy trucks like 88+ pickups will have the wrong side transfer case for you. The blazer and suburban were made for a few more Years with passenger side drop. Some of the newer cases might not have the mechanical speedo output. Look for that. The Chevy transfer cases will probably have. Slip yoke instead of the slip on the driveshaft. You could probably just shorten a driveshaft from a Chevy truck at that point. The front on mine I had to have a new 1 1/4" front driveshaft made to clear the 700s pan. That's the only part I don't like.

Any 1/2 ton Chevy 4x4 pickup starting in the early 80's through 1987 will have a 700R4 with a 208 (unless it has a manual transmission). After 87 Chevy switched to a driver's side output so that wouldn't work for you.

A K5 Blazer would be a good candidate as well. Starting at the same time as the pickup but extending through 1991 since they didn't change the front output until 1992 for the full size Blazer. The last couple years or so will have an NP241 instead of the 208.
