I wonder if it would be possible to relocate the gas tank
so that it would set across the jeep and not all on the
drivers side. Or, perhaps an Aux tank the same size on
the opposite side?
I measured my '78 with the thought of dual tanks, of similar size to stock, in the stock location and its mirror. With a centered rear axle it COULD be possible, but then there was no room for an exhaust.
If you want duals, keep your stock tank and add a F150 19 gal rear tank where the spare is/was. Thats one way.

On my 89 grand wag the factory plastic is coming out and this going in the back. It's 25.4 gallons in the right side and 5.6 gallons in the reserve side with separate sending units and a valve in the rear if I want to connect the 2 and have 31 gallons total and its 14 gage stainless steel. Should be installing it in the next few days.
Wow that is an incredible tank!! How much did that
set you back? Modifications like this for me have to wait
for the time being...but the minor stuff can be done:)
