Seat swap

Post by AMC-COMMANDO »

Curious if the bucket seats from a 75 Waggy would swap with a 75 J10 pickup with a bench seat? Will there be the same mounting holes in the truck as the Wagoneer? Or would new holes need to be drilled?

You will need to have the brackets IIRC the holes are already there. AMC was nothing but frugal It's been a long time since we did the swap into Crom

Will the Waggy brackets work? Or would the brackets need to be from the truck?

Ive swapped in several Wagoneer seats into my J10 and they really dont fit well--too high and lean back to much hitting the rear window. The brackets will fit if theyre from the same period/ time frame.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll look for something different.

And when I say the Wagoneer seats are too high, Im referring to the horizontal seat height to the floor. Im not sure if its the seat frame or the foam but it puts your knees a lot closer to the steering wheel.

For a short time, I owned a 1987 J20 with Wagoneer seat swapped in.
I bought it that way and I do not understand if there were any issues with the installation.
The seat tracks seemed to fit fine to me.
However they were a little too high for a J Truck and sit much to close to the steering wheel.
These seats were thick and I had them back as far as they would go.
I still felt like I was right up against the steering wheel.
Had I kept that rig, I would replaced those with Second Generation Dodge Dakota seats, like I have in my 1982 J10.
They are comfortable, fit well and look good.
They are a semi bench, bucket seat with a fold down center console.
My came outta of a 1998 model, but I think the 2000-2004 models were true buckets with a foldable center console
When the Center Console was flipped up, a small person or child could ride there.
