Caravan / Voyager electric fan wiring question

Post by Hobart »

Hi everyone.

Somewhere here or over at the Mother Ship, someone mentioned in a post that they put an electric fan from a 1993 Voyager or Caravan on their Wagoneer. I'm putting one on mine now, and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to wire it? I have been searching for the original post, but I can't find it. I managed to find a schematic, which I will attach below; but I'm struggling to figure out how to hook up the yellow wire, which shows that it comes from the "Hi Speed Fan Ground Relay".

Anyone do this conversion, or perhaps can read this schematic better than I can?

The idea I have, is that in order for the fan to operate on maximum speed, there will be 12-volts going to both the light green & dark green wires, and then ground the yellow wire, and the black will be ground as well. Opinions?

Thanks for the help, and have a great weekend!

Wow, you found it! I couldn't find that post to save my life :banghead: ! Thanks Michel!

For what it's worth, I did play around a bit with the wiring just now, and here's what I figured out:
Black is ground, obviously.
If I apply 12v to either of the green wires, the fan operates but it doesn't seem to be at a different speed between the two of them.
If I apply 12v to BOTH green wires at the same time, the fan spins at a higher speed.
If I apply 12v to BOTH green wires at the same time and ground the yellow wire, it spins even faster.

So now I just need to come up with a creative way to wire it all up.

Thanks again!

several aftermarket companies make dual fan controllers that can be controlled by engine temp, ac request, manual override and also have low/high speed, Deraule or Dakota Digital are my favorites.

Thanks sonoraed!
I got everything wired up with some relays. Need to make a few adjustments, and I'll get some pictures together and write the whole project up in a new post.
