Anyone run a different tank than stock? I dropped the tank in my '81 Wagoneer today, a total pain in the ass! The PO replaced some floor pans and left a bit of jagged metal which rubbed a hole in the top of the tank. Every time I filled up, she'd leak for a few hours. The stock set up seems stupid to me, catches tons of crap, never dries out. I wouldn't mind making a change with maybe a simpler skid plate which might allow better access to the tank. In case I end up reusing my tank, is there a way to patch a hole in a plastic tank? Thanks in advance.

I had a mini writeup on a F150 rear tank where the spare was over on IFSJA. Pretty well given up on that site, but I will see if its still there and pull it over here for future reference for those considering options.

Thanks for the info thus far, I have found it very helpful. Just a couple questions though. Would I use the Blazer pick up/float part that fits into the top of the tank? Does the tank just hang in the straps or does it secure tightly to the bottom of the Jeep? Thanks again.

You want the straps to hold the tank tight. On my J-20, I used angle iron to make an upper support, then used the straps to pull it up against the angle.

I'm just south of Milwaukee. A bit too far to ship. I have a CJ tank which I bought for my Commando some years ago, may try to use that. Only 15 gallons, but I'm running a 258 and get pretty good mileage.

i have a 95 s10 blazer tank in mine if you want we could meet up some time and you could see how they fit how far are you from the brat stop about 20 minutes from me
I'm building a 14 ga stainless steel one 25 gal with a 6 gal reserve will have 2 sending units and a valve to connect the 2 if I just want to run a 31 gal. It's going into the rear of my 89 wag and removing the center one.

Yes it will, we just finished our 5.3 swap and used a typhoon (s-10 blazer 2 door) tank and pump hanger. Looks like it was made for the FSJ.
